Dawn is the VP of People for Daxko, a leading software and services provider for non-profits nationwide. As VP of People, Dawn is responsible for helping the Daxko team find great talent, develop team members, preserve Daxko unique culture and manage the general HR function of the company. Daxko has been the recipient of several people-friendly awards including SHRM’s “50 Best Small and Medium Companies to Work for in America”, the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work in Birmingham” and featured in Fortune Small Business “7 Great Places to Work”.

Dawn has over 10 years of HR experience in both corporate and retail environments. In addition to Daxko, Dawn held a variety of HR leadership roles for MailSouth, a national direct mail advertising company. She is proud to have been part of MailSouth’s HR team when the organization was given Birmingham Magazine’s recognition as “50 Companies We Admire”, Birmingham Parent Magazine’s “Best Companies for Working Families” and Business Alabama’s “Best Companies to Work for in Alabama”.

Dawn was recently awarded the 2011 Top HR Executive for medium sized companies by the Birmingham Business Journal. Also an active member of the Birmingham Society of Human Resource Management (BSHRM), she received the chapters’ Chapter Leadership Excellence Award for her board member role as VP of Community Relations. In addition as a blogger and advocate of social media, Dawn is a regular contributor for Fistful of Talent, a featured blog on Workforce Management Magazine Online, and has her own HR blog HR Insomniac

Dawn is a graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi, holds a Master’s in HR Management from the University of Alabama as well as the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification designation. She and her husband, Bo Burke, live in Birmingham, AL.
